Paralysed by panic

Isn’t it a strange mechanism that some brains do (including my own), to compress and stop working when most needed! When afraid, my voice tightens and my logic leaves through the window. How does panic help and where does it even come from? Perhaps it is when faced with abstract pressures, perhaps if a lion faced you and opened it’s jaws, no one would freeze. Oh if I had a psychologist’s brain attached to my dear arm.
